Minister of Telcom & Information Technology, His Excellency Gulaidan M. Gulaidan paid an inspection visit to TeleYemen headquarters, Monday 12.12.2016. During his tour to TY departments and divisions, he was debriefed by TY CEO, Dr. Ali Nagi Nosari, on TY telecom and Internet services, YahClick. The Minister met TY leaders, the CEO, DCEO, and Chief Officers.

TY top management held a honoring event for the community-based organizations and human relief foundations which partook in TY-funded Emergency Relief Project-2 for IDPs. The project package included 10,000 food baskets to be delivered to IDPs in 12 governorates (Sana’a, Aden, Al Dhale’e, Amran, Ibb, Taiz, Saada, Hodeidah, Dhamar, Abyan, and Hajjah) at an amount of Yr.

Brief History

TeleYemen has been the sole licensed provider for the international telecommunication services since 1971 (Yemen International Gateway). It was established as a subsidiary of the British Cable & Wireless Company (C & W) until 1989. The Public Telecom Corporation (PTC) became a partner with 49% of the total shares and the name of the company changed into TeleYemen accordingly. In 2004 TeleYemen became 100% state-owned entity: 75% owned by Public Telecommunication Corporation and 25% owned by Yemen Post and Postal Savings Corporation.

TeleYemen signed an agreement with Falcon to install two landing stations for Flag optical fiber submarine cable in Hodeidah and Ghaidah and provide TeleYemen with 10gbps capacity on the same cable on an IRU basis.

 

PTC signed a renewal agreement with France Telecom to continue managing TeleYemen business for another two years.

 

TeleYemen launched a new reduction in international calls, customers can make their international calls at YR 1.5 per second to any country, any time and from any telephone.

 

TeleYemen launched the YahClick service, YehClick is a satellite broadband internet service covers both rural and urban areas with speed reaches up to 15 Mbps.
